The classic Rolling Stones disco done Marmalade style with horns, harmonies, and a female-centric twist delivered by special guest Fysah Sands.
Michael Shrieve had a beautiful idea; Marmalade should record "Miss You" by the Rolling Stones. He was at those original sessions, he knew what went into the original Stones version. He would produce this the way it should be produced. Turned out very cool! Thank you Michael!
Very reminiscent of the Stones version, but definitely done Marmalade styly, the disco groove is held down by Davee C and Bob no problem. Kimo brings the "Oooh oooh" hook to life with additional harmonies supported by the Marmalade horns. Special guest Fysah Sands sings the lead giving us a female perspective. Soulful and groovy, Marmalade shows love to an unforgettable classic.
lyrics
I've been holdin' out so long;
I've been sleepin' all alone;
Lord I miss you.
I've been hangin' on the phone;
I've been sleepin' all alone;
I want to kiss you.
Well, I've been haunted in my sleep;
You've been starin' in my dreams;
Lord I miss you.
I've been waitin' in the hall;
Been waitin' on your call;
When the phone rings.
It's just some friend of mine that say,
"Hey, what's the matter girl?
We're gonna come around bout twelve.
We got some Puerto Rican guys just dyin' to meet you!
Hey! We're gonna bring a case of wine.
We gon' mess and fool around;
Just like, just like we used to!"
Oh baby why you waitin' so long? Yeah, Yeah.
Oh baby why you waitin' so long?
Won't you come on! Come on home!
I been walkin' Central Park;
I been singing after dark;
People think I'm crazy.
I been stumblin' on my feet;
I been shufflin' through the street;
People ask me, "What's the matter with you girl?" Yeah!
Sometimes I say,
Sometimes I say,
Sometimes I say to myself
Oh! Oh!
I guess I'm lyin' to myself.
It's just you and no one else;
Lord I won't miss you. Yeah, Yeah.
You've been blottin' out my mind.
Fooling on my time.
I miss you, baby, yeah!
Yeah yeah, oh.
I'm missin' you babe;
I miss you, miss you, miss you!
I gotta have you!
I'm going crazy!
I'm going crazy
Without you! Yeah!
Without you babe!
Without you babe!
Oh Yeah!
I gotta have you!
Can't live without you!
I need you baby!
Oh oh!
Why you got me waiting for you?
Why you got me crazy?
Why you making me wanna break down?
Oh baby why you waitin' so long? Yeah, Yeah.
Oh baby why you waitin' so long?
Won't you come on! Come on! Come on home!
